Following a Sport England funded review in late 2009, Goalball UK is a newly formed organisation that is being created to act as the Governing Body for the sport throughout the UK. Goalball UK is a company limited by guarantee, has applied to register as a charity and will be seeking recognition as the official Governing Body by UK Sport and the 4 Home Country Sports Councils. There will be an elected Board and a number of development and performance staff.

Role:
Goalball UK is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, highly organised individual to continue the formation of, and lead, the new Governing Body. This is an exciting opportunity in the build up to the 2012 Paralympics and to ensure there is a legacy at all levels beyond. There is significant potential for the role to develop further. The Chief Executive Officer will lead the staff and volunteers and will work in partnership with the Board of trustees to create a robust organisation and to determine the future for Goalball within the UK.

The Purpose of the Post:
As the senior staff member the Chief Executive Officer will help establish the Governing Body and then develop the business and future strategic direction of Goalball UK. This includes:

- Contributing towards the creation of the overall strategy and providing the operational lead in meeting set targets
- Securing the financial stability of Goalball UK
- Developing the sport at all levels
- Ensuring Goalball UK complies with all corporate governance requirements
- Recruiting and managing staff
- Marketing and promoting all activity and achievements.

Accountability:
The post will report to and be line managed by a member of the Board of Trustees and will have overall responsibility for all staff members.

Hours:
37 hours per week. The post will require some evening and weekend work .
