Our client is currently looking to recruit up to 4 Personal Advisors in the Greater Manchester region on a 3 month interim assignment with a view to going permanent. Ideally you will be IAG Level 3 or 4 qualified, will have experience of working with a caseload of young people in a variety of settings including schools, colleges, employment, training, and/or in the community. You will also be immediately available for interview and start date.
Main purpose:
To engage with, and assess needs of, young people aged 13 - 19 ( or up to age 25 for clients with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities) in a variety of settings and use professional qualifications and experience to deliver Connexions services to a caseload of young people.
To provide/access advice, support, guidance and information on a range of issues to meet the needs of young people.
To help young people to raise their aspirations and achievements.
To assist young people to overcome any barriers which may affect their personal development and their transition into appropriate education, training and employment.
To contribute to the development of best practice in the delivery of Connexions services.
Working with young people:
Manage and be accountable for a caseload of young people in a variety of settings including schools, colleges, employment, training, and/or in the community.
Locate, engage and track young people within a given setting and/or geographical area.
Use the APIR Framework and other appropriate assessment tools to assess the needs of individual young people, plan and implement suitable interventions, and review actions taken at appropriate junctures.
Use professional skills, knowledge and training as appropriate to provide or access impartial information, advice, and guidance for young people in order to address their needs.
Refer clients to colleagues or partner organisations for additional help and support where necessary, continuing to act as a single point of contact.
Provide intensive one to one support and advocacy for young people, if necessary, to help them access learning and personal development opportunities.
Promote the safety and welfare of young people by building open, professional, and trusting relationships and by instigating child protection procedures if necessary.
To engage with parents, carers and families of young people.
Assist young people to secure appropriate opportunities in education, training or employment, and maintain contact with them once placed as necessary.
Plan and deliver group work to small and large groups of clients where appropriate.
Conduct home visits, if necessary, in accordance with established procedures in order to ascertain the progress of young people who have not contacted the Connexions service by other means.
Record interventions and evaluate data using ICT and paper based systems in accordance with established procedures.
Provide clients with an appropriate record of interventions made.
