Capitalise Research Intern

Toynbee Hall

Voluntary (unpaid)
Part Time
London

Capitalise is a programme funded by the government’s Financial Inclusion Fund employing 56 advisers across London providing debt and money advice to financially excluded members of the public experiencing debt and other financial problems. Since 2006 Capitalise advisers have assisted more than 24,000 clients deal with their urgent debt problems.

Since the beginning of the financial and economic crisis, Capitalise saw the demand for its advice soar to unprecedented levels as more and more people face unemployment and difficulties in accessing credit or dealing with their existing debt and creditors. In response the London Debt Strategy Group was established by Toynbee Hall and the Deputy Mayor Richard Barnes to strategically and practically consider solutions to the problems facing Londoners in debt. One of the key achievements from this initiative has been the facilitation of data-sharing agreements with the main free debt advice providers in London to provide a much improved evidence base for making resourcing decisions for debt advice in the capital. In this context the role will provide research and organisational support to the social policy work of the London Debt Strategy Group.
