The Environmental Law Foundation is one of the leading national organizations providing free legal advice to communities on environmental problems. They also work closely with communities bringing information and expertise to those who need it most through public information events and workshops.

Aim
The events intern will support the Sustainable Communities Project Coordinator with events organization and communications. Working in a close knit and friendly environment, the intern will have the opportunity to learn more about charities and how they work with communities. This role will also offer an opportunity for hands on work experience, extensive training and opportunity to take initiative.

Key areas in which they can assist are:
• Pre-event research.
• Sourcing and booking of venues, projector equipment and catering to suit the budget and occasion.
• Maintain event calendar, manage logistical arrangements, source travel fares.
• Prepare press releases for all media (newspaper, online, radio, tv).
• Prepare posters, flyers, event agendas and event feedback forms.
• Publicise the event through our network of members and contacts, online media, press, radio and tv.
• Travel to events to assist with event preparation, hosting and equipment.
• Post event activities including uploading attendees details onto database, collating feedback obtained and uploading onto database.
• Writing articles for our E.L.F. blog after each event.

Experience:
• Graduate in media studies, communications or business with a strong interest in marketing and the environment.
• Excellent writing, copywriting and proofreading skills.
• High attention to detail is a must for proofreading invitations, event publications and press releases.
• Strong commercial awareness with a good knowledge of budgeting and finance.
• Flexibility – the role will require flexibility in hours as it will necessitate some travel with evening or morning work where appropriate.
• Strong inter-personal skills with an outgoing personality and good telephone manner.
• A good team player.
• An interest in environmental justice for communities would be desirable.

Duration:
Minimum of three months for at least two days a week.

The role is based in London but the intern will be required to travel to events in the regions. Travel expenses are reimbursed up to £5 per day.
