Toynbee Hall is currently looking for volunteer coaches to work with young people taking part in our groundbreaking Aspire Project.

Aspire uses informal education practices to engage Year 9 students who are marginalised / overlooked within the school system. The project runs for a full academic year and aims to make a real difference to the lives of young people by offering them opportunities to gain new experiences and face new challenges.

The programme of activities aims to improve the social wellbeing, self esteem and confidence of young people through creative and team based workshops, including out of school excursions and residential trips outside of Tower Hamlets.

You will play a vital role in guiding the young people through the course of the project, helping them to engage with and get the most out of the activities.

Aspire will place you in a team with two other Volunteer Coaches. Your objective as an effective team player will be to plan and deliver fortnightly in-school coaching sessions to 10 young people. There will also be the opportunity to support the young people in workshops outside of school.

Skills / Experience
· Outgoing and enthusiastic approach (essential)
· Demonstrate commitment to working constructively with young people (essential)
· Sufficient interest in informal-learning to enhance and deliver the Aspire curriculum (essential)
· Good time keeping (essential)
· Prior experience of youth work or working in projects with young people (highly desirable)
· Some experience of active learning, either as participant or facilitator (desirable)
